ADAPT FAST test practice
Build a repeatable way to scan, respond and return to the flight task. This guide pairs original multitasking exercises with the AvioQuiz FAST simulator so you can practise the method, then review what happened.
One free FAST attempt per account. An ADAPT Pass includes repeat practice for 30 days.
Understand the assessment
FAST stands for Future Aptitude Selection Tool. Symbiotics describes it as a dynamic assessment of multitasking, learning, cognitive, situational awareness and physical skills. Its overlapping tasks test how candidates manage several sources of information and learn between scenarios.
Provider information: Symbiotics: Future Aptitude Selection Tool
AvioQuiz is independent practice and is not affiliated with IndiGo, Symbiotics or an assessment provider. Check your selection invitation for the actual test components, rules and equipment.
What to practise before a FAST session
Attention and scanning
Decide where your eyes return after every short task. Watch the flight display, notice a new instruction, complete the response, then deliberately check the flight again. A stable scan makes it easier to notice what you missed.
Listening and recall
Read the briefing and check the audio before starting. Group a spoken instruction into a few meaningful items: who it is for, what changes, and when it applies. Practise remembering those items without adding details you did not hear.
Short calculations under load
Build accuracy with basic arithmetic first. Then add a second task, such as listening for a target word. Track both tasks: faster calculations are not progress if you stop responding to the other information.
Learning from the first round
AvioQuiz includes two flight rounds and recall questions after each. Use the first report to choose one adjustment for the next run. Keep the difficulty steady while you check whether that adjustment helps.
Original FAST preparation exercises
These are original AvioQuiz learning examples, not questions from an official assessment.
EXERCISE 01
Return to the main task
You are monitoring the flight, a short arithmetic task appears, and an audio instruction arrives. How can you practise handling the overlap?
Worked answerRead the session rules first so you know which responses are required. Keep the flight task within the practice limits, capture the audio instruction, answer the short task when you can, and return to your scan.
After the run, identify whether a missed response came from not noticing it, forgetting it, or spending too long on another task. Change the part of your routine that caused the miss. This is a practice strategy, not an official scoring rule.
EXERCISE 02
Recall without guessing
For this paper exercise, read “Mira — 6,500 feet — waypoint LIMA”, cover it, and recall the three items after a short arithmetic problem.
Worked answerCheck your recall against the original three items. Record each item separately as correct, wrong or omitted.
Use a different name, altitude and waypoint next time. Repeating the same instruction measures memory of that example; changing the details makes the drill useful for fresh information.
EXERCISE 03
A quick calculation
A practice aircraft travels 72 nautical miles in 36 minutes. What is its average groundspeed?
Worked answer120 knots. Thirty-six minutes is 0.6 hours, so speed = 72 ÷ 0.6 = 120 nautical miles per hour.
Write the units when learning the method. Once it is accurate, try another distance and time while also monitoring a separate visual cue. These figures are an original arithmetic example.
A four-session FAST practice routine
Brief and establish a baseline
Use a desktop or laptop, check your audio, and read the simulator controls. Complete the available session and note where your attention went. A free attempt opens one full session; complete its rounds before leaving.
Isolate the weakest skill
If recall was weak, use fresh three-item instructions. If arithmetic consumed your attention, work on short calculations outside the simulator. Keep a small record of errors so the next practice has a purpose.
Apply one change
With repeat access, practise again at a comparable difficulty. Try one change, such as returning to the flight display after every response. Review the report before adding another change.
Compare the whole performance
Look at attention, recall and multitasking together. Note whether the second round was more controlled and where new mistakes appeared. Finish with a specific goal for the next session rather than repeating until a score happens to rise.
Common questions
Is the AvioQuiz FAST simulator the official Symbiotics test?
No. It is independent AvioQuiz practice for similar pilot selection skills. Its tasks, controls and reports are its own; it does not reproduce an official assessment or predict an airline selection decision.
Can I practise the FAST test online for free?
AvioQuiz gives each account one free complete FAST attempt. Repeat FAST sessions, psychometric practice and ball and rudder practice are included in the ADAPT Pass, currently ₹999 for 30 days.
Do I need a joystick for this FAST practice?
Read the controls in the AvioQuiz briefing before you begin. Use a desktop or laptop and check the audio. Hardware requirements for your actual selection assessment come from its provider and your invitation.
What FAST score guarantees selection?
AvioQuiz does not provide a guaranteed selection score. A practice report helps you review your own performance; it is not an official pass mark or a comparison with an airline’s candidate population.
