Every question on AvioQuiz includes a detailed explanation \u2014 not just the answer. Here's a taste.
On a Lambert Conformal Conic chart, a straight line most closely approximates a:
On a Lambert Conformal Conic projection, great circles plot as nearly straight lines (and exactly straight along the standard parallels). Rhumb lines (loxodromes) plot as curves concave toward the nearer pole. This is what makes Lambert charts ideal for plotting long-range tracks — the shortest distance between two points appears almost straight, so you can read tracks and distances directly with a plotter.
Radiation fog is most likely to form when the sky is:
Radiation fog forms when the ground cools rapidly by radiating heat to space, dropping the surface air below its dew point. Two conditions matter: a clear sky (so the ground can radiate freely) and light winds of about 1–3 kt (enough turbulence to deepen the cooled layer, but not so much that it disperses). Overcast skies trap outgoing radiation — no cooling, no fog. Strong winds mix the cooled layer away before saturation can occur.
According to ICAO Annex 2, when two aircraft are on converging headings at approximately the same level, which has the right of way?
ICAO Annex 2 (Rules of the Air) states that when two aircraft converge at approximately the same level, the aircraft that has the other on its right shall give way — i.e. the aircraft on the right has right of way. Speed and altitude are not the criteria. The give-way pilot must alter course to pass behind the other aircraft and avoid passing over, under, or in front of it unless well clear.

The DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) exams are the qualifying examinations for pilots in India seeking a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) or Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL). These exams test deep theoretical knowledge across multiple subjects — and passing them requires extensive practice.
AvioQuiz provides a structured, topic-wise question bank that mirrors the DGCA exam syllabus. Each subject is broken into focused quizzes covering specific topics, so you can systematically work through the material rather than randomly guessing what might appear in the exam.
All questions are sourced from standard aviation references including Oxford CAE ATPL textbooks and organized by the official DGCA subject structure. Your scores are tracked, wrong answers highlighted, and you can retry until you master every topic.
Air Navigation — Earth & coordinates, map projections, dead reckoning, flight planning, magnetism, compasses, INS/IRS/FMS, time & seasons. Covers both General Navigation and Radio Navigation with 1145 combined questions.
Aviation Meteorology — The atmosphere, pressure & density, temperature, humidity, adiabatics, turbulence, altimetry, winds, clouds, thunderstorms, visibility, icing, air masses & fronts, METARs, TAFs, significant weather charts. 1697 questions.
Air Regulations & Human Performance — ICAO conventions, rules of the air, air traffic services, separation methods, licensing, Indian aviation law, aviation physiology, CRM, stress & fatigue. 1359 questions covering both CPL and ATPL depth.
Technical General — Covers principles of flight (978 questions), airframes & systems (395 questions), powerplant (284 questions), electrics (67 questions), and instrumentation (315 questions).
The DGCA CPL exam covers Air Navigation, Aviation Meteorology, Air Regulations, and Technical General (aircraft systems and principles of flight). AvioQuiz has question banks for all of these subjects.
AvioQuiz currently has 6,240 questions across all DGCA subjects including general navigation, radio navigation, meteorology, air regulations, principles of flight, airframes & systems, powerplant, electrics, and instrumentation.
